What is it about music that I love so much. In a world where so much goes wrong it can be that constant. It can define us and inspire us. In some ways it can allow us to relate to the artist that poured their souls into their work and can be a mental respite allowing us conjure a moment or period that brought us joy or sadness. How many times do we listen to a song and then thoughts come rushing in perhaps related to a time when we first heard that song. Music can be in a sense a type of journal written within our minds. How many of us first remember listening to U2's Achtung Baby or even Milli Vanilli (is that sad? haha). There's no denying the power of music. I would love to hear your responses on the first album they can remember really striking a chord within them.

For me today that artist is Spain specifically two songs: Every Time I Try and Know Body Has to Know

Crystal Castles "Untrust Us"

Crystal Castles

I am so glad I discovered these guys! I am always pleased to find fellow Canadians that can put out some sweet Indie electro pop. Although I am only half Canadian I will still I'm Canadian because I am as much Canadian as American no matter what my citizenship says. :) Ok ok, I will say I am Canadiarican. haha

Anyways back to the music, this duo doesn't make any earth shattering music breakthroughs but they deliver on a very solid electro album with some very catchy songs that you can definitely nod your head to, tap your foot to or if you are freaky even wiggle you butt too.

Some critics say alot of their songs are from prior earlier singles, EPs and splits but what do I care! This is the first time I've listened to these guys. :) A definite listen, these guys will put on a great show at Coachella!

Go Pitt! I want to win my work bracket. haha

Beirut-For those of you haven't heard of this band they are truly a unique and special band to behold. On first listen one would certainly not guess that this band was fronted by a man born and raised in New Mexico. The man behind the band is one Zach Condon. He released his first album when he was 15 and at the age of 17 traveled to Paris and took a great interest in the native Balkan folk music. Combine that with his interest in world music and what you get is a spin off of that with his creation the band Beirut. His music is full of instruments that now a days are seldom used such as tubas and accordians. However in his latest album he does several songs through a music workstation.

While listening to his music one can't help but feel they are in a far off land in the middle of a circus almost. The bands latest effort is titled March of the Zapotec & Realpeople: Holland. A sold album that is vintage Beirut for the first several songs but takes a new electronic twist at the end. Definitely listen to these guys at Coachella you will be dancing in no time.

I have added two songs. The first being traditional Beirut and the second being unique to this album. The Akara and No Dice. No Dice being my favorite

Just a quick blog this morning. I am so excited after listening to the new Silversun Pickups single "Panic Switch". The Southern California Rockers with the fuzzy guitars are back! Whoever thought I could love a band without keyboards so much. ;) Feel free to check out the single in my tweets section
Anyways they are back and how badly I'm wishing I was going to Coachella! Why can't I just win the lottery so that I won't ever have to work again! Because I probably won't be able to make it to the grand Coachella event I'm now committed to listening to the latest albums of all the bands that will be attending and posting my reviews and posting my favorite songs of each of the albums for your listening pleasure. If you are fortunate enough to be able to attend maybe this will be of assistance in helping you decide which bands you will fight to get to the front lines of.
COME BACK SOON! :)

It all begins here!

So the blogging/journal (since I'm too lazy to write in a journal) begins. Don't worry all my hopeful would be readers I won't bore you with things such as what cereal i bought today, how many times i went to the toilet, etc..
But instead I will mostly dedicate myself to posting about the latest concert I've been to, the new sweet album I've listened to on Rhapsody, and other fascinating stuff I come across or experience.
So I hope this turn off the Indie Fans I will be trying to cater to but I have to admit i really like U2's new album. I've listened to it a few days over the last few days. I easily think it's their best since Achtung Baby. Very nice melodies! I would love to hear others feedback on what they think about No Line On The Horizon.
